International Symposium on Intelligent and Manufacturing Systems begins at IUS

Gathering many distinguished professors and relevant experts from all over the world, Seventh International Symposium on Intelligent and Manufacturing Systems “Progress in Intelligent Technologies for Society” began on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at International University of Sarajevo (IUS).

The Symposium, jointly organized by Department of Industrial Engineering of Sakarya University from Turkey and International University of Sarajevo, is scheduled to last until Friday, September 17, 2010. In the premises of newly build Campus in Ilidža, IUS was honored to provide hosting for an event of this size and importance.

The Symposium was opened with introductory speeches from the representatives of Organizational Committee, as well as with IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Hilmi who used this opportunity to welcome Symposium guests and wish them success in their work. He also gave short summary of IUS history and establishment.

The program continued with keynote speaker I. Burhan Türkşen and his paper titled „A Historical Development of Fuzzy System Models“ in the IUS Amphitheatre on the ground floor.

In the afternoon, four parallel sessions in three halls are scheduled to take place. First parallel session is consisted of panels „Fuzzy Systems – 1“ chaired by Z. Şen, „Scheduling“ by M. Kapanoğlu and „Artificial Neural Network“ by Adem Göleç.

Second parallel session is consisted of „Manufacturing“ chaired by A. Kusiak, „Fuzzy Systems – 2“ by E. Taçgin and „Intelligent Systems – 1“ by A. Ali Aburas. Third parallel session is made of „Intelligent Systems – 2“ chaired by T. Dereli, „Knowledge/Information“ by T. C. Kahveci and „Miscellaneous – 1“ by O. Uygun. Fourth and last parallel session of the day was made of „Evaluation Systems“ chaired by E. Öztemel, „Computing“ by C. Öz and „Simulation/Simulator“ by M. Savsar.

Symposium continued on Thursday, September 16, 2010 with fifth parallel session - "Chaos/Control Systems" chaired by E. Tacgin and "Miscellaneous 2" by U. Kula. Program was officially closed with the panel session "Progress in Intelligent Technologies for Society" that included panelists: B. Turksen, Z. Sen, A. Kusiak and E. Oztemel.
